Chef Gary Wu is the founder and the executive chef of Gary’s Restaurant. It is his mission to create amazing food with only the freshest ingredients.

More importantly, Chef Gary does not use any artificial flavor enhancers in his dishes.

Gary’s offers the soul of authentic Italian cuisine and elevates the dining experience to new heights, bringing forth nothing but the freshest ingredients.

This comes as no surprise because Chef Gary has been a ‘Chef for Hire’ for many well-heeled customers. These include the Royal Family of Brunei, Cabinet Ministers, celebrities. He was also appointed as Executive Chef to prepare meals for Head of State, Prime Minister and other VVIPs in Brunei.

Gary believes in a mantra that involves giving his customers a divine dining experience through fresh ingredients. As a result, this has earned him a great reputation.

Gary started his cooking career in 1993 in Hong Kong as an apprentice to a renowned chef in a fine dining restaurant called Fortune Gate Restaurant.


He returned 2 years later and worked at Fortune Gate Restaurant, Singapore. 4 years later, he was promoted to Assistant Chef. However, he only started to specialise in Italian fine dining from 2000.


Impressively, Gary has bagged many accolades. These include the “Singapore Tatler Best Restaurant Award 2014”, “Best of the Best, Fine Dining” award as well as the “Best Chef” award by IBF Singapore in 2020.

As accomplished as his awards is his participation in many high-profile events. Gary was involved with the Louis XIII Appreciation, Lamborghini Launch and the Macallan Whisky Appreciation Dinner.


Gary was a Senior Sous Chef of Buona Terra Italian Restaurant, a 1 Michelin Star Restaurant.
